Fig Tree Coal Mining Anthology Launch

Saturday 15th November 2025, 1pm – Unitarian Church, Doncaster

The Fig Tree Coal Mining Anthology is a collection of 63 poems by more than 50 different poets.

It is a poetic record of the history of Coal Mining, primarily in the United Kingdom, from the days of tallow lamps and boys in the mines, through the days when coal powered British Industry, to its eventual decline and demise. It catalogues the people and places, the emotions, the dangers. This is a must-read for anyone with connections to the industry or its communities. Emotional and powerful poems from the heart of the mining areas all across the land.

At the launch poems were read by the poets who wrote them and other attendees, all of whom contributed to a fantastic afternoon of poetry.

The Anthology is available to order from the shop.
