Some of the poets from the anthology, along with other invited guests, read poems about coal mining and the associated communities. It was a remarkable afternoon of memories and a celebration of a fading way of life in a special venue.
Special guests were Ian Parks and Joe Williams.
Thanks to the excellent staff and management at the Woodhorn Museum for providing venue support. I would highly recommend a visit.
Here is some feedback:
This was such a wonderful affirmative afternoon about the power of community, the importance of an industry which literally fuelled a whole nation, the ongoing need for social justice against unfair political pressure and above all how well all of those elements can be so best expressed in poetry of amazing quality – Philip Hood
Felt fantastic to be involved in this commemoration and in the anthology. Great poems reflecting so many different perspectives. – Ali Rowland
Great space and some fabulous performances! – Elaine Cusack
