Description

Matthew Paul will be reading from his latest collection (see here for more information) alongside guests Shash Trevett and Cliff Yates. It promises to be an evening of fabulous poetry.

The Poets

Matthew Paul lives in Rotherham. His first collection The Evening Entertainment was published by Eyewear in 2017 and his second, The Last Corinthians, will be published by Crooked Spire Press in 2025. His two haiku collections were published by Snapshot Press. His poetry book reviews regularly appear in The Friday Poem and elsewhere, and he has contributed to the Guardian’s ‘Country Diary’ column.

Guests:

Shash Trevett is a poet and a translator of Tamil poetry into English. Her collection The Naming of Names (2024) and pamphlet From a Borrowed Land (2021) were published by SmithǀDoorstop. Shash co-edited Out of Sri Lanka: Tamil, Sinhala and English Poetry from Sri Lanka and its
Diasporas (Bloodaxe/Penguin India, 2023).

Cliff Yates was born in Birmingham. Collections include New & Selected Poems (SmithǀDoorstop, 2023), Henry’s Clock (Fenton Aldeburgh prize) and Frank Freeman’s Dancing School (ACE Writers Award). An Arvon tutor and former RLF Fellow at Aston University, Cliff wrote Jumpstart
Poetry in the Secondary School during his time as Poetry Society poet-in-residence.
